Active Expedia discount codes, vouchers and promotions for January 2020
Launched in 1998, Expedia.co.uk is the world’s largest online travel company. Whether you know exactly what you want, need ideas or just aren’t quite sure about any aspect of your trip, their easy to use website makes planning your holiday a breeze. Expedia know that it’s not just the choice of hotel and flight that makes a holiday. As well as having an entire section of the site devoted to things to do, they provide in depth destination guides, maps, travel information, hotel reviews and even holiday insurance. With no cancellation fees and over a million combinations of flights, hotels and holiday packages, you don’t really need anywhere else.
Expedia operate some great reward schemes that really let you get the most out of their site, your holiday and, most importantly, your budget.
First, Expedia offer a Price Guarantee for both when you’re booking a hotel only and a hotel-flight combination. With the hotel only, if you book and pay for a room on Expedia.co.uk and later find a lower rate for a like-for-like room on either their site or another site they’ll refund you the difference. Plus, whilst some sites only give you 24 hours from the date you book to claim, Expedia let you claim all the way up to 48 hours before check-in. For hotel and flight combinations you can still claim the difference back if you find the same deal cheaper elsewhere, but you’ll need to do it within 48 hours of making the booking.
Next, and by far the best, is the Expedia+ loyalty scheme which was introduced in January 2017. It’s completely free to sign up and it works in a similar way to other reward schemes, such as the Nectar card scheme or Boots advantage card scheme. Quite simply, for every £1 spent on hotels, holiday packages, activities, flights and car hire you collect a number of Expedia+ points. You can then redeem the points either directly (as like a payment method), or by using them to redeem vouchers, which you can store in your account and apply to your booking at the checkout. There’s no minimum number of points before you start spending and you can spend them as soon as you’ve earned them. Oh, and because you need to become an Expedia member to sign up to the loyalty scheme you’ll get access to Expedia member pricing as well.
New members on the Expedia+ scheme are automatically placed on the +blue tier, which allows you to collect and spend points, get extra points for booking VIP+ hotels and even use your points to book travel for others. If you manage to spend over £5,000 on eligible bookings or stay 7 room nights in a calendar year you get upgraded to +silver status. This is where the benefits really start rolling in. Not only do you get you 10% more points on all eligible bookings, you get priority customer service and free drinks and spa discounts at selected +VIP Access hotels.
If you’re really the travelling kind and have managed to rack up over £10,000 on eligible bookings or have stayed 15 room nights in a calendar year, then to everything in the +blue and +silver tiers you can add room upgrades, 30% extra points on all eligible bookings and flexible check-in and check-out at +VIP Access hotels to the mix. Did we mention that you also collect Nectar points on top of your Expedia+ points as well? That’s some loyalty scheme.
Aside from their loyalty scheme, make sure you check out our Expedia discount and deals page. Expedia regularly advertise great offers including 40% off selected hotels, money off activities when you spend over a certain amount, and even one night free on selected packages. Whenever there’s an Expedia offer worth shouting about, we’ll have it right here on this page so make sure you check before you book.
And finally, Expedia have an entire section of the site devoted to finding last minute deals. If you’re flexible on where you go and the exact dates you travel, this is a great way to explore places you might have not even thought of at prices your eyes won’t quite believe. Packages can be discounted by as much as £800.
By far the best way to keep up with Expedia is to download their app, available for both Apple and Android phones. As well as making it really fast and easy to book, you can earn double Expedia+ points on all bookings done through the app. It will also allow you to go paperless, by keeping your itineraries all in one place.
If your Expedia discount code isn’t working, first check the terms and conditions for that particular offer. Sometimes there are restrictions on the hotels or flights you can use the deal on. If you think one of our codes should be valid, please let us know.
